Compare Our Mud Kitchens: 120cm vs 150cm, Shelf vs Storage

Short answer

All four Mud Kitchen Expert kitchens share the same build: solid spruce, two lift-out stainless steel sinks, four painted burners with wooden knobs, a utensil rail, eleven hand-painted colours, free UK mainland delivery and arrival fully assembled in 7 to 14 days. They differ in two things only: width (120 cm for two to three children, 150 cm for three to four) and what is underneath (an open shelf or a storage cabinet with doors). Prices run £499, £549, £529 and £599.

Two decisions, in order

1. Width: 120 or 150 cm

Count the children who will realistically play at once, then add one, because mud kitchens attract visitors. Two or three, buy 120 cm. Three or more, or a wide age gap between siblings, buy 150 cm. The extra 30 cm costs £30 and is the decision people most often wish they had made. A 150 cm kitchen needs about 3 metres of clear width in the garden. Detail in our large mud kitchens guide.

2. Shelf or cabinet

The cabinet adds £50 on either width. Choose it if the kitchen is in view of the house, the garden is small, or it is for a setting. Choose the open shelf if you want the pots visible, want faster drying, or would rather spend the £50 on accessories. Full reasoning in storage cabinet or open shelf.

What is identical on all four

Everything that decides how long it lasts. Solid spruce boards sanded splinter-free, a hand-applied outdoor acrylic in your choice of eleven colours, two stainless steel bowls that lift out, stainless or coated fixings, and delivery fully assembled on a pallet, free, anywhere on the UK mainland. Returns are 14 days from the day after delivery.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the 120cm and 150cm mud kitchen?

Width, and therefore how many children fit: 120 cm suits two to three, 150 cm suits three to four. Everything else is identical: timber, sinks, burners, rail, colours and delivery. The 150 cm costs £30 more and needs about 3 metres of clear garden width.

Is the storage cabinet worth £50 extra?

Yes if the kitchen is visible from the house, the garden is small, or it is for a nursery or childminder. It keeps equipment dry and hides clutter. For a kitchen tucked out of sight, the open shelf is fine and dries faster.

Do all four mud kitchens come assembled?

Yes. Every kitchen arrives fully assembled on a pallet, delivered kerbside by tracked pallet courier within 7 to 14 days of ordering, free anywhere on the UK mainland. There is no flat-pack on any model.
